Many times when someone becomes involved in an affair they imagine that things in their new relationship are far better than their relationship with their spouse ever was. However, oftentimes that is not the truth.

In reality, many times their new relationship only seems better, because it’s new! Financial hardships, issues with kids, and other responsibilities are left at home when a man is with his other woman. Without all these distractions, it’s easy to feel like things are superior, but that feeling is almost always short-lived.

Praying for an adulterous husband to see the truth of the situation is one way to help him gain clarity about what he is doing.

Once the newness and excitement wear off, an affair can become difficult and even draining.

Juggling both his family and another woman can become a challenge. Instead of having a “wonderful relationship” with someone else like he imagined a cheating man may realize that he has put himself in between a rock and a hard place.

Even though it’s difficult, it’s very common for men to try to stay in both relationships.

When my husband was in that place, I used to spend a lot of time saying powerful prayers against the other woman. I would pray that things between him and her would fall apart. That she would lose interest, that he would see the pain of our family, or that he would simply fall back in love with me again! These were all prayers against adultery that I prayed often during that time in our marriage.

Overall, I prayed that there would be some kind of end in sight and that he would break free of this other woman once and for all!

When my husband and I were dealing with his infidelity, the number one prayer that I prayed was that God would “bind” my husband’s “wandering heart” to Him.

During that time in our marriage, I not only lost my husband, but he claimed to have lost his faith.

Watching him wander so far from the Lord was one hundred times harder than seeing him wander from me, so praying for him to turn his heart back to the Lord was very important to me.

Throughout the struggles and separation that occurred in my marriage, I prayed heavily for restoration between my husband and me. I can say with all confidence that the healing that happened in my marriage was nothing but a miracle as a result of the numerous prayers that were said to fight adultery.

In the end, my husband not only recommitted his heart to me but also recommitted his life to the Lord.

It can be hard to know how to pray for a deceitful husband, but God has given Christians the wonderful gift of prayer. We have the ability to bring the pain and problems we are facing in our marriages directly to the one who created us, and marriage.
