The Bible has a lot to say about love, especially in the book Song of Solomon. Song of Solomon is a small book of the Bible, right near the middle. If you’ve ever spent time reading the book, you know it’s filled with phrases about passion and romance between a man and woman who are in love. Here are 10 of the most romantic Bible passages about love that you will find in Song of Solomon.

Kiss Me

Remember the first time you and your spouse kissed? Was it more “delightful than wine” for you?

“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—for your love is more delightful than wine.” SOS 1:2

Handsome and Charming

The first thing I think of when I hear the word “charming” is a prince in a fairytale. Reading this passage, it sure seems like the woman in Song of Solomon thinks of her beloved husband as her handsome and charming “prince”!

“How handsome you are, my beloved! Oh, how charming!” SOS 1:16a

A Lily Among Thorns

Was there ever a time when your spouse was crazy about you, that he thought you were a “lily among thorns”?

“Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women.” SOS 2:2

The One My Heart Loves

This is one of my favorite Bible passages about love because it’s exactly how I feel about my husband. From the minute I knew he was “the one” I knew I’d never let him go!

 “…when I found the one my heart loves I held him and would not let him go.. SOS 3:4

Flawless

My love language is one hundred percent “words of affirmation,” if my husband would just tell me this every day, (even if it’s not true) I’d be a happy wife!

“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” SOS 4:7

One Glance

Can you relate to this one? When did you realize your man had stolen your heart?

“…you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes…” SOS 4:9

Radiant and Ruddy

“Radiant and ruddy” might not be words we would use to describe a good-looking guy these days, but at the time I’m sure they were a pretty big compliment.

“My beloved is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand.” SOS 5:10

You Are Mine

Marriage summed up…I am his and he is mine!

“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine…” SOS 6:3

His One Desire

Marriage goals…being desired by your husband!

“I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.” SOS 7:10

In His Embrace

I love the picture pained in this Bible verse about relationships. Just such a beautiful description of spending time with the one you love.

“His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me.” SOS 8:3

Strong As Death

Anyone who has had a marriage come to an end knows the loss can feel like death. Love can burn inside you so strongly that nothing can make it burn out!

“…for love is as strong as death, it’s jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love, rivers cannot sweep it away.” SOS 8:6b-7a

Final Thoughts

There are many Bible passages about love, especially in the book of Song of Solomon. These are just a few of my favorite verses that can be found there, but there are many more. If you haven’t read Song of Solomon from beginning to end I definitely suggest you do. It’s not a long read, and the chapters contain a beautiful love story.
